Dennis M. Matko
Co-Founder and President

Prior to co-founding The Behavioral Assessment Resource (BAR) Group, LLC, Mr. Dennis M. Matko was a Senior Behavioral Intelligence Expert with an advisory group that provided advanced interview training, behavioral assessments, and analytical products to thousands of business professionals worldwide. He worked primarily with members of premier corporate, financial services, and auditing firms in the United States, Europe and Asia. He has additionally provided training in these unique skills to members of the law enforcement community.
In 2004, Mr. Matko retired after 30 years with the Columbus, Ohio Division of Police, the majority of which he served as an intelligence officer, detective sergeant and a supervisor. In 1977 Mr. Matko temporarily left his police duties to serve on the personal security detail of former Secretary of State Henry A. Kissinger in Washington, DC. Upon his return to the Division of Police he joined an elite unit that provided executive protection services to visiting dignitaries and others with high risk profiles. He afforded dignitary protection services and training for the Columbus Mayor's Office, and served as a liaison with the United States Secret Service, U. S. State Department and other federal agencies. In 1994, Mr. Matko was a principal in the design and implementation of security arrangements for a United Nations International Trade Symposium that hosted foreign heads of state and other high-ranking officials. The balance of Mr. Matko's career focused on covert and intelligence operations that targeted threat groups and organized criminal enterprises. He was a primary architect of the Columbus Police gang unit and supervised it for six years, during which time the unit established the most successful prosecution rate of gang members in the state of Ohio. Mr. Matko also spent two years as the director of a statewide task force on Eastern Bloc drug traffickers for the Ohio Attorney General's office, culminating in the successful prosecutions of individuals in three countries. Throughout his career he has developed extensive experience in leading investigations, conducting interviews and controlling informants.
Mr. Matko holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology (Criminology) from the Ohio State University.
